A note from Shannon for the 3 people that she is looking to coach over the next few months:
Our society seems to be existing an environment of constant distraction and/or constant survival mode. The need to unconsciously “feed the machine” feels similar to a drug addict who is clearly sick, but continues to use because they don’t recognize the feeling of sickness.
I can only talk about this from any place of knowing because I find myself getting caught in these moments of distraction or survival daily. I see the cycles now as an opportunity to reflect on what is working and what isn’t working as well as I would like. It's a continual opportunity to reflect and adjust without judgement, but, I didn’t always have this perspective.
I used to vape. I think about it frequently, and I loved every moment of it. Truly, I enjoyed it so much. I actually didn’t feel negative effects from the use of vaping when I was in it, but once I decided to stop after the Universe gave me a solid nudge to do so, I began to feel the ease of breathing and a reconnection with my voice that vaping had numbed.
In other words, when I was vaping, I didn’t notice a lack. It was only when I felt better that I could feel the difference. This is what I notice when working with clients who come to us with an idea that they don’t feel energized because it must be their hormones, or they are an insomniac, or they don’t feel that they are the “type of person” who’s body will respond.
When I start to dive into their daily habits with them, it becomes clear that it has little to do with the external areas that they think are to blame and more to do with the realization that their daily habits have been keeping them in a place of “dis-ease”.
Here is what I can share now after coaching in the areas of sustainable lifestyle, health and behavior change for almost 10 years:
Assuming that you don’t have a known illness: if you don’t feel energized, don’t sleep well, are carrying extra weight no matter what you do, it’s the daily habits (and thoughts) that are causing the state of your body and how you experience life in your body 99% of the time.
It’s not your hormones, although those may be a side effect.
It’s not your age, although you likely can't repeat the same damaging lifestyle habits that you might have in your younger years.
It’s not your insomnia.
It’s not even your genetics!
It’s more likely the things that you are doing day after day, how ever big or small, that are compounding over time.
Most of us growing up never had an example of what a daily practice of self care habits could look like.
We may have been taught how to brush our teeth but very few of us were taught how to:
- properly feed our body to balance blood sugar without over-indulging
- bring awareness to and process through our emotions
- move our bodies regularly and contract our muscles for bone health and joint protection
- reflect back on changes that we have experienced with congratulations to self for success!
This is exactly why we created The Green Door Life.... Not The 30-Day Weight Loss Challenge, IIFYM Macro Coaches, or Holistic Nutritionists Who Are Just Charging You For Expensive Labs and Supplements Without Helping You Assess Daily Habits That *Actually* Cause You To Feel Better.
It’s not about a diet, it’s not about weight loss, and it’s not even about tracking food or exercise. Those things may happen and can be tools used for a desired result, but what we are really doing now is holding a container for our clients to discover the lifelong habits of self care that they were never taught growing up.
Maybe they were taught some of these practices, but haven’t had the holistic full picture practice that can be a sustainable foundation for the rest of their life.
The result of this can be profound. Because:
As we do one thing, we do all things.
When we build the muscle of awareness and create incremental daily practices, the benefit of those practices reveal themselves to us over time.
The more we perform the same task, the better we can see the benefit or the side effect when we:
- Know what we are looking for, which is where a coach can come be effective
- Have the present awareness to witness the benefit or effect when it’s happening, which is another reason why a coaching container is so powerful
A coach can reflect back to you the larger picture of what is occurring for you over time and help to decipher the pieces and the overall trend and trajectory.
All this to say, this kind of coaching container is what lights me up.
I am looking for someone who is ready to see themselves in a new light.
To discover themselves through daily practice.
To be coachable and open to the surprises.
Someone who is ready to discover the incredible capacity that is within them to live a fulfilled and incredible life, not because of what they have, but because of who they are in their daily practice.
My speciality is holding the space for clients to build the daily structure that allows them to be energized, confident, strong, healthy and flexible throughout their life.
So even as environments and life evolves, they have the tools to navigate each experience to support their mind, body, and spirit with present awareness.
If this is for you, please book an application call. I am waiting for you <3
