Let's begin with the harsh truth that alcohol is a toxin.
There is no getting around that fact.
Our theory as to why our ancestors could tolerate more of this poison in the past than we can these days is very simple:
Our ancestors had a much lower toxic load.
They weren't also ridding their bodies of xeno-estrogens, endocrine disruptors and fake ingredients found in modern day food, skincare and everyday household items.
Their water was structured, their soil was rich with minerals and their air was better than the indoor air most of us breathe regularly.
Their mitochondria were likely more healthy.
They spent most of their time moving outdoors, walking and lifting heavy things.
They didn't sit all day exposed to artificial like, artificial food, and non-native EMF.
Our ancestors had strong support from both their nuclear families and greater communities which positively impacted neurotransmitters, nervous system regulation, and stress reduction.
Our ancestors did not over eat food as much and tended to use alcohol as a caloric energy source (i.e. meal replacement) when consumed.
The alcohol itself was more natural and less processed.
(Did you know that alcohol companies are exempt from listing all ingredients on their label because they do not fall under the regulation of the FDA? That means, we really don't know the full story in terms of what is being added nutritionally or chemically to alcohol!)
And ultimately, their main detoxing organ - the liver - was likely much less burdened and therefore able to more easily detoxify alcohol.
