Next up: an online modern dance class taught by Alisha Peek from Trybe Dance Collective at 4:30 p.m. Pacific on December 14!

Who This Is For

Whether you're a current member or new to The Green Door Life, we invite you to join us Monday, December 14th for this modern dance class!

Alisha Peek will lead us through a 60-minute class via Zoom that you can join from anywhere.

About The Class

This is an open level Modern class taught in the traditional Horton method.

Choose a room that has some space to move, and wear your favorite dance outfit!

Dancers of any level and experience are welcome.

About Your Instructor

Alisha Rena Peek is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program in Dance, and former company member of Ailey II, the second company to the world renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

She has performed and taught both internationally and domestically while in the company and has worked with many influential choreographers such as Robert Battle, Andrea Miller, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Kirven Douthit-Boyd, and Juel D. Lane to name a few.

Ms. Peek began her formal dance training at the Washington School of Ballet and later went on to train at Dance Theatre of Harlem Kennedy Center Residency, Kirov Ballet Academy, and The Art of Technique under the direction of Troy D. Brown.

Ms. Peek attended summer intensive programs at American Ballet Theatre, Dance Theatre of Harlem (scholarship recipient), Boston Ballet (scholarship recipient), Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and The Ailey School (scholarship recipient). She also appeared in season one of the hit FX series Pose.

We are honored to have Alisha lead us through this class and look forward to moving our bodies collectively for some much needed energy release.

Protein Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Think you have to give up all your favorite foods when you start our program? Think again!

We love asking our members to share their “off-limits” comfort food recipes and then let us tweak them to make them more balanced.

Like banana bread...

Normally, this dense loaf can pack a punch with high fat and minimal protein. Time for a makeover! Check out this amazing recipe from Zach Rocheleau of The Flexible Dieting Lifestyle.

Zach is the king of putting together creative meals - including old-time classics - that won’t leave you in a food coma on the couch or spike your blood sugar excessively.

They’re high in protein and low in fat which is exactly what we want for our members who are focused on building and preserving muscle mass while shedding body fat.

Here is Zach's Protein Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe:

Ingredients:

400g Banana

200g Egg Whites

100g Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

120g Vanilla Whey Protein

60g Coconut Flour

12g Zero Cal Sweetener of your Choice

6g Ground Cinnamon

12g Baking Powder 30g Mini Chocolate Chips (can add more if you’d like!)

Macros for each slice (makes 14):

93 Calories

11g Carbs

1.5g Fat

9g Protein

Directions:

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Add your banana to a bowl mash till there are no more chunks. Then add your egg whites and mix together.

2️⃣ Add your dry ingredients (except mini chocolate chips) to another bowl and mix to avoid clumping.

3️⃣ Now combine dry with the wet and mix.

4️⃣ Spray your loaf tin with non stick cooking spray and add batter to it.

5️⃣ Add to oven for 40-45 minutes until tops are cracked and you can see some golden brown spots.

6️⃣ Take out, let cool and enjoy!

Pro tips: You can add walnuts instead of chocolate chips to make them banana walnut bread! Will alter the macros slightly!
