Let's dive into a topic that often surprises many people: what a day in the life of a nutrition coach at The Green Door Life really looks like.
Spoiler alert—it’s not all gym time and intermittent fasting! Far from it.
We're actually on the computer for most of the day, often working 50-60 hours a week. But we have structured special routines - just like we help curate with our high performing clients - to integrate wellness and self-care all throughout the day in micro-doses.
6:30 AM – Rising and Shining
The day kicks off sunrise, morning light, and a balanced breakfast within an hour of waking. Contrary to popular belief, don't start our days with tons of coffee and not eating. Instead, we enjoy a blood-sugar friendly meal with a balance of macronutrients, including plenty of protein and fiber, to fuel us for a busy day ahead.
7:30 AM – Morning Check-ins
Our first task is checking in with clients. We log onto our computers and review their food diaries, progress reports, and any messages they've sent overnight. This is a crucial part of our day, ensuring each client receives the personalized guidance they need to stay on track.
9:00 AM – Consultations and Coaching Sessions
Throughout the morning, we have one-on-one and group virtual consultations. These sessions are a mix of discussing nutrition plans, setting goals, and troubleshooting any issues our clients might be facing. We're not just talking about food; we're also addressing lifestyle, stress management, and more.
10:00 AM – Strength Training
This is when we teach our strength training class to our community. It's such a great time to connect and move our bodies while keeping everyone safe with proper form and alignment cues.
Note: we're also taking mini breaks to walk outside about every hour. Did you know that studies now show that moving every hour for a few minutes is more beneficial for health and longevity than getting in all your movement in to one chunk?
12:00 PM – Lunch Break
Yes, we take breaks and eat regular meals! Skipping this would be a disaster for blood sugar and mental cognition. Our typical lunch might be a colorful salad with a variety of vegetables, a source of protein like grilled chicken or chickpeas, and a whole grain such as quinoa. It's all about balance and meeting our nutrient needs.
1:00 PM – Research and Development
The afternoon often involves researching the latest in nutrition science. Whether it's reading new studies, developing meal plans, or creating content for our clients and creating free education for social media, staying informed and innovative is key. This is when we put our expertise to the test, ensuring our advice is backed by the latest findings. We will forever be students.
